Gonno & XTAL - Sugar Mix Tape Vol.1

"Sugar" is a party by DJ Gonno and XTAL, and the first one was held on December 7, 2019 at Neon Hall in Nagano City, XTAL's hometown. Since then, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, unfortunately we have not been able to hold the event, but we plan to restart it in Tokyo first after releasing this mixtape.

Both Gonno and XTAL are DJs who mainly play dance music such as House/Techno/Disco, but the concept of "Sugar" is not only to play such dance music, but also to be afraid of all the music that they like. It's about playing without. At the same time, I use my sensibility as a dance music DJ to keep in mind that even if I play songs that don't have a clear beat, I want to create a set that feels like a groove.

XTAL is in charge of the A side. It starts with trip hop/dub at a slow tempo, like the beginning of a party, and interjects alternative rock, which is my roots, in the middle (I get the impression that this type of music is rarely played at the same time as dance music other than Sugar. ), which connects to 90's house at the end.

The B-side, Gonno, continues the flow of the A-side, but starts off with a quick fade-in that says, ``I was conscious of the rough beginning of an old mixtape.'' It doesn't push things too hard, but connects House with a dreamy groove that you'll want to sway forever. Toward the end of the song, the song takes off smoothly, but like the A-side of XTAL, the song also mixes in alternative rock to create a Sugar party atmosphere.
